Oxford Bags (English Edition)
Oxford Bags is a comedic novel about a reclusive programmer in a post-capitalist society who leads a revolution that topples the new world order. Buster Fields is twenty-six years old and two years out of his parents’ house. Every day he wakes up blurry-eyed after a late night of sitting at the screen in his apartment fighting cyborgs bent on destroying the earth. On his walk to work, he stops at Java Injection for a coffee and danish and to hopefully say a few words to Amanda, the beefy barista he has a crush on. Then he goes to his seven-days-a-week job at Lettertree, writing code that protects the world’s Value Distribution System from vigilante hackers. One morning he is confronted by an old man who gives him a pair of Oxford Bags, outrageously wide-legged pants popular in the twenties. He tells Buster that if he puts them on and never takes them off for more than an hour at a time, he will find a fresh five-dollar bill in his pocket every morning. What he didn’t tell him was that those pants would also change everyone and everything around him.
